Alkimos sits on pure Bassendean sand: some of the most concrete friendly ground in the Perth metro area for slab on ground work. Well drained, nonreactive, easy to compact. A standard 100mm slab with SL72 mesh on 100mm compacted road base handles residential driveways reliably. The catch is not the ground. It's the exposure. Coastal salt spray affects concrete edges and reinforcement mesh if concrete cover is inadequate. Insist on bar chairs to keep mesh at mid slab depth, and specify a solvent based UV stable sealer for all exposed pours. Water table can be relatively high in Alkimos closer to the coast; check for water at excavation depth on any deep pour (edge beams, pool surrounds).
