Official council crossover references

A safe application workflow

Confirm the responsible LGA. Use the WA local government directory or contact the council if the boundary is unclear.
Open the current official guidance. Do not assume a neighbouring council or an old approval follows the same process.
Classify the work. A new crossover, widening, material change and like for like repair may be treated differently.
Prepare the requested plan. Include dimensions, materials and nearby services, trees, kerbs, paths and drainage.
Confirm approval and inspection points. Wait for written confirmation where approval is required and schedule any inspection before the relevant construction stage.
Build and retain records. Follow the approved specification and keep approvals, invoices and completion or subsidy records.

Property specific conditions. A subdivision approval, title covenant, street tree, service, footpath or drainage asset can change what is possible.
Starting before confirmation. Unauthorised work can require alteration or removal at the owner's expense.
Assuming every council requires the same application. Joondalup, for example, currently treats compliant modifications differently from proposals that vary from its guidelines.
Relying on an old fee or subsidy. Financial year amounts and eligibility can change; verify them on the live council page.
Missing a required inspection. Ask the council exactly when an inspection must occur before booking the pour.
